When Christmas is mentioned, most of us think of the smell of cookies, vanilla and butter. And the “Three Nuts for Cinderella” nut cookies are among the most delicious. They are delicate, moist, lightly crunchy and thanks to the rum cream literally melt on the tongue. This classic recipe will fill your kitchen with scent and bring the true festive atmosphere.

Preparation procedure

  • Dough preparation: Cream the butter with the powdered sugar until fluffy. Then add the cocoa, rum and ground nuts. Finally stir in the flour and work into a smooth dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator ideally overnight so the flavors meld and the dough holds its shape better.
  • Baking the nut cookies: Prepare your nut-shaped molds and fill them with the dough. Make a small indentation in the center of each nut where the cream will be added later. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 15 minutes, until the nuts turn golden. After baking, let them cool and carefully remove them from the molds.
  • Cream: Cook the puddings in the milk according to the instructions and let them cool completely. In another bowl whip the butter with the powdered sugar until fluffy and gradually add the cooled pudding. Finally add rum to taste and whip into a smooth, fine cream.
  • Assembling the nuts: Place a little cream on one half of a nut with a teaspoon or a piping bag and cover with the other half. Sprinkle the finished nuts with powdered sugar and let them set in a cool place.
