  • Add the lemon zest and the seeds from the vanilla pod to the milk. Heat and bring to a boil, then remove from the heat and strain.
  • Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar until frothy. While whisking constantly, gradually pour in the warm milk and combine the mixture.
  • Return the mixture to the stove and, stirring constantly, gradually add the sifted flour. Cook until the cream thickens.
  • Let the cream cool. The cooled cream can be combined with quark, mascarpone or butter for a richer flavor.
