Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the dough: In a bowl, beat the yolks with the oil, powdered sugar and vanilla sugar into a smooth mixture. Gradually add 10 tablespoons of warm water. Stir in the dry ingredients, i.e. the flour and baking powder.
  • Preparing the meringue: Beat the egg whites into stiff peaks and gradually whisk in 10 tablespoons of warm water.
  • Preparing the apple filling: Drizzle the grated apples with lemon juice and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
  • Baking: Prepare a baking tray, line it with foil and spread butter on it. Layer the grated apples onto the foil. Pour the prepared batter over the apples. Bake in a preheated oven at 150 °C for about 30-35 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on your oven, so it's good to keep an eye on the cake.
  • Finishing: After baking, let the cake cool, then turn it out onto a board so that the apples are on top. Spread the whipped cream over the apples and, to taste, you can sprinkle with grated chocolate and cinnamon.
  • Serving: Serve the cake warm or cold; it's great with tea or coffee.
