Preparation procedure
- Preparing the dough: In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, whipping cream, eggs, vinegar, and a pinch of salt. Work into a smooth, uniform dough. If it's too firm, add a little milk; if it's too thin, add flour. Let the finished dough rest for 30 minutes.
- Division and rolling out: Divide the dough into 3 equal parts and roll each of them into a thin sheet.
- Filling the strudels: First strudel: Sprinkle the sheet with some breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon, and layer on the grated apples. Second strudel: Spread quark mixed with sugar and raisins. Third strudel: Use a mixture of ground poppy seeds, powdered sugar, and jarred cherries.
- Rolling and shaping: Roll each sheet in the classic way, or cut it into strips and alternately fold them over the filling for an interesting appearance.
- Baking: Transfer the strudels to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush them with melted butter. Bake in an oven preheated to 200 °C for about 30 minutes until golden.
- Finishing: After taking them out of the oven, brush the strudels with melted butter mixed with a little rum.
