The combination of butter, caramel and condensed milk creates an irresistible filling that bonds with the delicate waffle sheets. The result? Confectionery that tastes like it’s from a patisserie – but you can make it easily at home.

Preparation procedure

  • Prepare the nuts Coarsely chop the walnuts. Do not chop them too finely – the griliážky should have a fine crunchy texture.
  • Make the caramel Put the sugar into a pot or a deeper pan and slowly melt it over medium heat until it acquires a golden amber color. Stir so it doesn't burn.
  • Combine with the butter Add the butter to the hot caramel in two batches, stirring constantly so it fully combines with the caramel.
  • Pour in the condensed milk Add the entire can of condensed milk and stir until a smooth, thicker mixture forms. Let simmer for another 2–3 minutes.
  • Fold in the nuts Add the chopped walnuts to the hot mixture and mix thoroughly.
  • Assemble the layers Divide the filling into three even portions for the waffle sheets: spread 1/3 of the filling on the bottom waffle cover with the second sheet and spread the filling again repeat once more finish with the fourth waffle
  • Weigh down and let cool Cover the cake with baking paper, place a baking sheet on top and weigh it down (e.g., with a larger board). Leave in a cool place for several hours, ideally overnight, so it firms up nicely.
  • Cut and decorate with chocolate Trim the edges with a sharp knife and cut into smaller rectangles or squares. Melt the chocolate and pour it over or dip the pieces. Let set.
