Preparation procedure
- 1. Preheating the oven and preparing the batter: Preheat the oven to 220 °C. In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients – flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa and sugar. Gradually add the oil, coffee and milk and mix at medium speed for about 1 minute. Then add the eggs and vanilla extract and mix for another 2 minutes.
- 2. Baking: Pour the batter into a greased pan and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 23–30 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on the oven's performance, so check the cake periodically with a skewer.
- 3. Preparing the filling: Meanwhile, prepare the milk icing filling. In a saucepan, cook the milk and flour until the mixture thickens. Let the mixture cool.
- 4. Finishing the filling: In a bowl, mix the softened butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla extract. Combine both mixtures together and beat for another 10 minutes until a smooth creamy filling forms.
- 5. Filling and finishing the cake: Let the baked cake cool for 10 minutes and then slice it to create two round layers. Spread the filling between the layers and cover the top and sides of the cake.
