Preparation procedure

  • In a bowl, mix the minced meat with the egg, grated smoked Edam cheese, salt and pepper. Shape it into even flat slices.
  • Slice the onion into rings and spread them over the bottom of a greased roasting pan or baking dish. Place the prepared meat slices on top of the onion.
  • Pour in a little water, cover and bake for about 40 minutes at 180 °C, until the meat browns and the onion softens.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the mashed potatoes. Boil the peeled potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain, mash, add the butter and warmed milk. Finally stir in the chopped chervil.
  • Serve the minced slices with the onion gravy and a portion of mashed potatoes.
