Homemade pan-fried yogurt flatbreads are a great alternative to classic baked goods. They are quick, simple and don’t require an oven, so even a complete beginner can make them. If you don’t want to go to the store unnecessarily or fancy warm homemade baked goods in a few minutes, this recipe will come in handy. The result is soft, pliable and tastes great both on its own and as a side to soup, spreads or grilled meat.

Preparation procedure

  • Dough preparation Sift the flour into a large bowl, add the dry yeast, salt and plain yogurt. Gradually pour in the warm water and mix until a smooth and elastic dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
  • Dough rising Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (approx. 45–60 minutes depending on room temperature).
  • Shaping the flatbreads Separate the risen dough into smaller portions and form them into balls. Roll each ball into a flatbread about 0.5 cm thick.
  • Frying Cook the flatbreads in a dry pan on both sides until golden. Each side takes approximately 2–3 minutes depending on your stove.

If you make them fresh for breakfast or as a side for dinner, you definitely can’t go wrong. They are also great for the freezer – after thawing they are like new.
