Žerbo cookies are delicious small desserts you’ll love. Thanks to the simple preparation and excellent taste, they are perfect for any festive occasion. This recipe is easy and anyone can make it.

Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the dough: In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, powdered sugar, ground walnuts, cinnamon, salt and vanilla sugar. Add the chopped butter, lemon juice and egg yolks. Thoroughly work all the ingredients into a smooth dough. Wrap the dough in cling film and put it in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  • Shaping the cookies: After chilling, roll the dough out to a thickness of about 3 mm. Use a cutter or a glass to cut out circles 4 cm in diameter. Bake the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 9–12 minutes, until they turn golden. After baking, let the cookies cool.
  • Finishing: Spread the cooled cookies with apricot jam. Pour melted chocolate over the tops of the cookies and decorate with whole walnuts.
